Triller returns to us for the third time tonight, September 11, 2021, where a number of combat sports legends face off in their respective eight-and-ten round bouts.
Starting off the action tonight is a ten round clash between Andy Vences and Jono Carroll, who will be fighting for a No. 1 contender spot at 130 lbs.
Next comes the return of multi-time cruiserweight and heavyweight champion David Haye, who takes on an unproven Joe Fournier. Haye has lost his last two straight, both via finish, and both to the same man, while Fournier comes in with a perfect 9-0 record.
Haye will also be making his first appearance in the ring in over three years, while Fournier had a tune up bout earlier this year after a near five year hiatus. This bout is scheduled for eight rounds.
Now we move to our incredibly exciting co-main event of the evening, where two mixed martial art legends face off in an eight round affair.
We’ve got the eleven-time UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva, who’s 2-1 in professional boxing, having just defeated multi-time middleweight boxing champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr over the summer, and then we’ve got six-time UFC light-heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz on the opposing end.
Silva still has a number of records that have yet to be broken in the UFC, and Ortiz would have a number of them himself if it weren’t for Jon Jones. This one should be interesting to say the least.
Then in our main event of the evening we get to see multi-time heavyweight boxing champion Evander Holyfield face former UFC light-heavyweight champion, and UFC heavyweight tournament winner Vitor Belfort, who has fought far more recent than Holyfield, but all in MMA compeititon.
Holyfield’s been out a decade, and Belfort’s lone boxing bout came back in 2006.
Belfort was initially slated against a returning Oscar De La Hoya for tonight, but as we all know by now, De La Hoya was forced out of the bout with Covid-19, and replaced by a much bigger Holyfield.
An interesting fact of tonight’s card: Silva has defeated Belfort before (KO), Ortiz has defeated Belfort before (SD), and Silva vs Ortiz could’ve happened in the UFC around 2007 or 2008, but we get to see them box tonight!
