This Saturday, October 3rd, Atlas Fights returns to the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi with its 4th show since the Covid-19 lockdown. On the main card, we’ve got 2 title fights in store - a battle for Atlas Fights Bantamweight gold, and Gladiators Academy’s AJ Fletcher in his first defense of the Atlas Welterweight belt. And, we’ve got one hell-of-a Heavyweight fight featuring Brandon Hebert taking on Cam “The Big Mac” Graham. Follow along as we break down each of these three matchups on the main card of Atlas Fights 57.
Brandon Hebert vs. Cameron Graham
First up we’ve got Gladiators Academy’s Brandon Hebert vs. Impact Fitness’ Cam Graham. After tearing ligaments in his foot during his first professional fight and being forced to withdraw (episode 5 of the podcast), “Thug Passion” Brandon Hebert has been on an absolute tear. Since then, he’s won 3 straight - 3 first round knockouts, and what’s more - his total fight time in those 3 fights is only 86 seconds COMBINED. Brandon looks to keep that momentum rolling this Saturday night against Cam “The Big Mac” Graham. Graham is 2-3 as a professional, and after starting out on a 7 fight win streak (amateur and pro combined) he’s lost his last 3. Graham hopes to get back on the winning track this Saturday, however he has a tall (and wide) task ahead of him.
Thiago Moira Belo vs. Jonathan Eiland (Bantamweight Title Fight)
Next, Brazil’s Thiago Moira Belo is taking on Mid City MMA’s Jon “The Don” Eiland for the Atlas Fights Bantamweight belt. Eiland was twice previously scheduled to fight for the belt - both matchups against Fitness Fight Factory’s Levi Mowles, but Mowles was forced to withdraw from the fight both times due to injury. Eiland is 4-0 as a professional, and including his amateur career, hasn’t loss since the beginning of 2016. He’s coming off of a decision win against NKI’s Brandon McMahan back in December of last year at Bayou FC 43. And, after having his last 2 fights fall through, Eiland is more than ready to step back in the cage.
Thiago Moira Belo will provide Eiland with his toughest professional competition yet. Belo is 9-4-1, 1NC in a professional career dating back to 2012. Like Eiland, Belo is also riding a 4-fight professional win streak. Belo’s last fight was a RNC submission win over Calvin Glover at Empire FC 5 back in February of this year. Belo looks to get his hand raised this Saturday night and become the new Atlas Fights Bantamweight champion, but he will face what looks like the toughest competition of his professional career as well in a stout-and-ready Jonathan Eiland.
James Freeman Jr. vs. AJ Fletcher (Welterweight Title Fight)
In the main event of Atlas Fights 57, Gladiators Academy’s AJ “The Ghost” Fletcher will have his first defense of the Atlas Welterweight title against James Freeman Jr. Fletcher is 5-0 as a professional, and he’s riding an 8 fight win streak (amateur and professional combined). He’s coming off of a 1st-round submission win over 10-year MMA veteran Christopher Anthony at Atlas Fights 55 on August 22nd, where he won the Atlas Welterweight title. Fletcher looks to defend his title and prolong his win steak this Saturday against James Freeman Jr. Freeman is 6-3, and much like Christopher Anthony, has a serious edge in experience over Fletcher. Freeman has been a professional since 2009, and after winning his first 5, he’s gone 1-3. Freeman did face some serious competition in those 4 fights, however - a loss to UFC veteran Desmond Green, a loss to UFC veteran Brok Weaver, and a win over Charles “Felony” Bennett. This matchup should prove to be the toughest in AJ Fletcher’s young career, and it could be the fight that he needs to show that he is ready to take his talents to the next level.
